Taylor was born and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He graduated from
Davidson College in May 2007 with high honors in Political Science and a Spanish minor. He currently lives and works in San Antonio, Texas where he is a Strategic Initiatives Analyst for
Bexar County Economic Development.
Taylor has
worked for
WALT Radio at Davidson College,
the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, NC,
People For the American Way in Washington, D.C.,
Dr. Patrick Sellers at Davidson College, and the
Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation in Winston Salem, NC. He has studied and traveled extensively in Central and South America. Taylor is a
LEED AP.
Taylor has been
blogging since 2005: first on
a now-defunct personal blog profiling his
study abroad experience in South America and
now at Tropophilia. Taylor’s writing focuses on the nexus of technology, environmental sustainability, public policy and social change. He is particularly interested in sustainable communities and everything wrapped up within that concept: eco-friendly design, urban planning and transportation, economic opportunity, entrepreneurship, social justice, social networks, etc. Taylor also writes about the nonprofit sector, philanthropy, digital culture (the way we behave online, and how web-base tools affect our lives), and the search for vocation.
In his
free time between work and
Tropophilia, Taylor enjoys reading (
online and
off), cooking, music, gardening, and anything athletic outdoors (or, occasionally,
indoors). He married the love of his life in July 2009.
