About

Tropophilia is a blog about change. Literally, tropophilia is a love (-philia) of change (tropo-). But the authors of this blog are not simply apologists for change. In general, we believe that change is good and that the net effect of change is usually positive. But change has its side effects, its drawbacks, its consequences. We acknowledge the good and bad aspects of change, and make it our mission to study both. The purpose of Tropophilia is to explore the impact of change in our society. Whether it be changes in technology, in climate, in social interaction, in culture, in politics, our goal is to expose the positive and the negative impacts made. While from time to time we take a certain side in the debates we cover, we are open minded and try to give the reader enough information to make their own opinions and decisions about the issues. Tropophilia is the product of two young minds (and their incredibly intelligent friends) who found their intellectual muscles in a state of atrophy only months after concluding their careers at a small liberal arts college. The real world just wasn't doing it for us, although things have certainly improved since then. Thanks for joining us in this pursuit, and we hope you'll add your own voice to the conversation via the comments.
